Rising 07.15. Down to the Trough Of Wonder, Joy & Bliss Arising.
A little morning reading and listening. Setlisting. Joining David and Mr. Bill for a touching base.
To the room and a call from T – yippee!
24.54 To the venue 14.45. A little fine-tuning of programmes on the Sirius Probe, practicing.
First set c. one hour and five minutes, the second set longer: three hours and ten minutes in all. An exceptional show, particularly the second set. A personal report: my practice as a working player visited another level, including subtleties difficult to describe publicly. Those with a Guitar Circle background will know this as a report on The Guitarist Inside.
But my show was killed by photography in Starless, the final song before the encore. That was it: my performance was over. Most likely the photographers would say: It won’t make any difference! It’s only a photo! And I have the right! Interesting then that on the climbing line of Starless into the following eruption, with stage light moving to red, I played F# where normally an F natural would reside. Early members of The League Of Crafty Guitarists were often surprised to experience the correlation between audience behavior and onstage performance; as if audience behavior has a direct bearing on the playing.
So this evening, while flying high, I was shot and fell to earth.
